Ebbs and Flows centers around a rattan bowl, reminiscent of traditional fishing nets. Inside the bowl, a gyroscope detects movement, and as the bowl tips and moves, participants influence the movement of digital water and, consequently, the AI-generated images. These images are produced based on the flow of the water and the prompt "humans eat fish." By contemplating the blending of human and fish elements within the output images, the artwork underscores the interconnectedness of these two life forms, blurring the lines between species and highlighting our shared vulnerabilities in the face of climate change. Also a play on the word “balance”, reflecting on the delicate relationship between our human actions and the marine ecosystems.
This was a personal experiment to see how I could use movement as an interface when dealing with image generation. Asking myself how are we really co-creating with our machines?
